Lover of Music. Beatles are my boy band for life.
i did get to see the Dap Kings with Sharon Jones ( and Lee Fields… I think they were backing him). I love how Simpson used horns on Sailors Guide.

I rarely go to shows alone, but I made an exception for him back in 2015. Couldn’t find one person to go with me. Great show…their loss.

I really enjoyed pulling this one out two weeks ago.

Sadly, No. I don’t think I listened to more than 8 albums. Just got very busy!

Not familiar with the first two. The last three are good reminders to revisit.

This is a better time period for me than 00 - 04. I started listening to new music around 2010. I don't love all of it, but at least I was paying attention.

Thanks for reminding me about this one!

They sound lovely.

I forgot to give Tears for Fears a listen. I listened to it about 6 years ago for the first time. Soul Mining was a contender for me.

I’m with you on that all the way.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve heard somebody use that word. It’s nice.

About time to lock in your picks! You’re running out of time!
October 26, 2025 at 3:06 AM
I don’t have the disdain for REM that you have but I’ve heard them enough for a lifetime. Now, The Smiths, that’s a different story. Great job finding new music!

It really doesn’t do it for me. And, yes, terrible time for country. I haven’t even attempted 80s jazz. My head would probably explode.
October 25, 2025 at 2:49 AM
I think I listened to more 80s music in the last three weeks than I did in the actual 80s. It all sounds the same to me.

I’m listening again. I can definitely see how it could be called unlistenable, but it has this propulsive quality that keeps pushing me forward.

I think I must have gotten used to the ugliness. I don’t care for the Avalanche cover, so it makes for a rough start.
October 16, 2025 at 8:26 PM
It is tough going. I will be selecting the albums that sound the least like the 80s. Big Science and Violent Femmes are a lock. I might surprise myself and go with Nick Cave. It’s an ugly album but it’s something different from the synths and jangly

Listened to this, too, and it’s a lock.
October 11, 2025 at 5:58 AM
Listened today. Contender for me, too.
October 11, 2025 at 5:57 AM
I thought that might be the case.
October 9, 2025 at 4:01 AM
Better get started. Lots to check out here ( and plenty I’m not familiar with).

I like Hoodoo , from what I just sampled. Not sure about Cocteau Twins, as I can’t even make it through their biggest album. Usually pretty okay with The Waterboys and Cole. Don’t know the Sound. Will check them all!.
