Abstract for new study published by International Journal of Forensic Mental Health Research. We looked at the trajectories of 283 people found Not Criminally Responsible in Ontario. Being born outside of Canada and not being fluent in either official language (English and French) was associated with longer time under the care of the forensic system, even after accounting for violence risk, primary diagnosis, and index offense severity. Results are discussed in the context of optimizing forensic mental services that are effective, equitable, and just.

Recruiting professionals who work with people who have sexually offended against children online (see photo)
We are conducting a study as part of a PhD Project at the School of Psychology, University of Minho, focused on therapeutic interventions with individuals who have committed online sexual crimes involving children. This study is supervised by the Professors Sónia Caridade, Olga Cunha, and Michael C. Seto. Our goal is to explore the most effective therapeutic approaches to reduce criminal behaviors and identify the challenges faced by professionals in this field.
