I just got back from Kiwiburn on Monday! 🔥

They survived all alone for over a week!! I think they're kinda grateful for some decent kai and a rest, even if they aren't stoked about being cooped up and handled 😅

They now hang out in a little pen I constructed in our back yard while they recouperate 🦆🏡 We hope Karen and the Floofy siblings will return and accept Lil' Dook back into the whānau 🤞🏽 But if not, they can stay with us until they're well enough and big enough to safely go out on their own ❤️

Lil' Dook is the same size and gawkiness (growing in their adult feathers), and when we brought them home, they seemed to know the property and that the best escape is down the driveway 🤣

When we returned after 5 nights away, all of our usual local duck families had skidaddled (likely because of a local doggo who often gets loose and likes to chase ducks 😞), though we did walk down the stream and spotted Karen and her 2 Floofs again.

After about 5 minutes of chasing and herding, and with the help of three local children, and a helpfully trained rugby player, we managed to catch Lil' Dook and I brought them home.
