The longevity cult is going to be ALL OVER the naked mole rats. For science, I guess.

Hat tip @404media.co of course, because they are the best.

"think harder" not smarter apparently...

The New York Times magazine made a bizarre random math error? In their article about the new Pope's ancestry. How do you calculate 2^15 and be off by exactly 2?

But when you combine them all together? Magic happens.

These are adjacent LinkedIn recommended jobs for me. (No I'm not looking, but I load them for amusement+to look for others.) 1) "Advance Practice Provider - Cardiac ICU" at Seattle Children's Hospital. 2) "Virginia Beach SAT Tutor" in Virginia Beach (remote).

... I don't understand that algorithm.

Time is an illusion.

I was a big fan of David Chalmers when I was an existential angst-ridden CS PhD student, but under no circumstances will I "start taking seriously the moral concerns around AI consciousness."

Just adding a screenshot with pictures for proof / evidence. (Slightly harder to fake than text, at least.)

I see OpenAI also put out something about AI policy today, but it looks like they left out one of the most important pieces? See image.

More on that in my just-posted/just-skeeted co-authored TPP piece: www.techpolicy.press/a-call-for-m... and a few pieces from the DTI blog: dtinit.org/blog/tags#AI

To Neil Postman, television "has made entertainment itself the natural format for the representation of all experience." What would he say of social media? At least relative to TV, social media includes more words, I suppose, though I wouldn't call it literary.

And: What about generative AI?

Without downloading any new pics what's your energy going into 2025? (I took two from Fred the Elf, couldn't choose.)

2025: NORAD reassures everyone that they are not using AI to track Santa.

PSA: these are *delicious*.

Simply brilliant picture in today's WaPo headlines email.

Fun with the Internet Policy timeline and selective image cropping.

FantasyPros offered me a free Coach AI assistant today. No thanks. Also, I'm not in the playoffs this year, so really it's academic anyway.

Is it just me, or did Pantone make shit brown the color of the year for 2025?

*slow clap*

This is incredibly friendly, ha. No complaints.

"Bonus points if you can explain data portability over bourbon!" Indeed.

Do @brcremer.bsky.social and @johnpavlovitz.bsky.social coordinate? Two powerful emails from them this morning, 3 mins apart, on the same theme, both resonant with this Christian on a Sunday morning. Links and a screenshot:

Apparently, today, I'm one in a million!

This is why we have AI.

Is it just me, or is the New York Times telling on itself via Spelling Bee?

Ooh. Does Brewster always like having his head up? One of my dogs loves pillows and I've never met another quite like him. Meet Teddy.

Yet another data point that I am "internet old".

(Also, this is a cute thing for Bluesky to do, nice work, and congrats on 10 million!!!)
