The laws that have been passed for AI regulation are so mild, so inexpensive to comply with, and so far below what I think a reasonable AI developer would want to do just to be able to sleep at night.

Here's the thing: Any person with a shred of decency would make sure their chatbots do all these things, all the time. Mine do, and they're not companions and not aimed at children.

The circumstances are (a) it's a "companion chatbot" and (b) it can be used by children.

What are the requirements? (a) it says it's not a human, (b) it refers them to crisis resources if they express suicidal or self-harm thoughts, (c) avoids exposing minors to sexual content. ...
