Staraptor: Stays the same. Turtwig: Stays in its first stage since the writers obviously did not care enough about it to give it a proper character arc. They kind of raise an issue but then they forget about it and when Grotle evolves into Torterra, it literally just loses and has no real payoff. Infernape: Stays the same. Buizel: Stays the same. Lucario: Moved the catch to Sinnoh. Hippowdon: Replaces Torterra in terms of tank. Froslass: Snorunt isn't caught in Hoenn. It is in Sinnoh to showcase its new female-exclusive evolution. Gabite: Caught in its second stage.

Ash doesn't bring the Kanto starters with him to Johto, instead they are used much rarely as well as other Kanto mons. Quilava: Evolves against Jasmine. Victreebell: Replaces Bayleef. Feraligator: Fully evolves and becomes his ace. Heracross: Moved the capture for when Ash could've caught his Noctowl. I cut Noctowl because it really had nothing to add on to his team. Pupitar: Ash actually catches the Larvitar. Dunsparce: Replaces Phanpy as the egg hatch.
