Working archaeologist, recovering attorney (really pointless to keep including that line in bios - it’s been twenty years now)
Should I bring the band over here from FB/insta?

I see what you did there — you might even say that reference hit me like a train (a big one)

Name’s a bit on the nose, eh what‽

(I think you can all figure out the typos there)

In addition to the obvious need for former slave nations to pay cash reparations to the descendants of slaves, the “west” in particular and France in particular should be making massive and ongoinf reparations to Haiti.

(I overlapped 3/4 years of Spanberger at UVa, and graduated from said prep school about a decade after GY did - though as a classic underachiever I didn’t get straight in to UVa and had to transfer)
November 14, 2025 at 2:24 PM
it would probably be considered gauche within the framework of standard Virginia politics to point it out - but Spanberger went to UVa, while Youngkin (in spite of going to a prep school that sends a pretty damn large portion of it’s students to UVa) did not)

This is like worrying that the Bob’s Burger’s kids have had multiple christmases while staying in the same grade.

I‘ve been forced to do so on social media because @kaine.senate.gov is pulling this garbage on a day when his office phones won’t even go to voicemail.

What you’ve done today is one of the most profoundly stupid things a modern Virginia senator has ever done. Among other things it means that all the suffering that has already happened in the shutdown was FOR NOTHING. GOP sens are not going to extend the subsidies and you know it. You abject coward.

So has Kendrick Lamar clearly.

(“transness” is in scare quotes because its the best word I could come up with to get back under the character limit - not because I am skeptical about the existence of trans people!)
November 7, 2025 at 12:19 PM
I think the median voter is mildy uncomfortable with ”transness”, but I think they are WAY MORE uncomfortable with the right’s obsession with it. Harris really showed poor instincts when they shut down Walz’ “they’re weird” stuff - they *are* weird. And pedo-con theory keeps proving itself right.

I mean if we only mean admire *as an artist* Van Morrison seems an obvious choice.

I think it’s because he genuinely thinks they are a fee you charge other countries to sell stuff here, which combines with his desire to seem smart by disagreeing with conventional wisdom.

I’m the only aphantasic person I know, but my wife, daughter, and I all have a lot of echolalia/echolalia adjacent habits (and bits/schtick based thereon) - as do a lot of my friends

Check out westmoreland county, turnout way up (from 56 to 75%) vs ’21 and a 13point swing toward the dems (to be fair from +21R to +8R, but still)

I voted at 6:05 this morning, but my wife voted about an hour ago and there was no line, so results should come in reasonably quickly if our precinct is representative

1 way my brand of neurodivergence manifests itself is with a bit of echolalia. That, combined with having 1st learned to talk in the midwest, but having grown up and spent the rest of my life in 3 Virginia cities that all maintain some (but different) southern accents, and I’m all over the place
