A couple of weeks ago, we visited Asbury Park... Please don't report me, as dogs were not prohibited from the boardwalk when the picture was taken.

When COVID happened, and I started working from home, he was always present. He loved to sit on the neck pillow on my office chair and drape himself around my neck. Coworkers in meetings would comment often, and I'd explain that it was his house, so he can do whatever he wants

Eventually, he became mostly indoor, and helped all the new animal arrivals understand that this was a chill place, and nobody would ever be wanting anything. His purrs were constant and loud, so much so that vets would hold an alcohol pad in front of his face to stop his pur to listen to his heart.

Today is the Feast of St. Zipper. He was 20 years old, born in a barn in South Carolina. The previous owners of the house couldn't take him with them, and we adopted him during closing. While he was comfortable outside, we bought him a heated cat cabin, in case it got cold.

In my family, we have a tradition we uphold when a loved one or friend loses a pet. It's called "The Feast of St. $petname". We give our animals (and sometimes ourselves) some extra special food, and extra love and attention, to honor the animal that passed.
