my answer "easy to say from the cheap seats" is about how hard the job is.
I mean, fine, choose another leader, if you can find one to do it. But what makes you think the new Leader can herd the cats, keep these eight in line or control the caucus.

Because I've followed the Senate for decades and I know how it works. It's notoriously hard to get Senators to all line up. And people seem to forget that the Dems don't have 50 votes in the Senate and don't have 50% in the House
I want all of you to put the blame on those who deserve the blame:

I am confused why you are not blaming the eigtht Senators for doing what they did, and instead blame Senator Schumer who voted no. Very confused it seems to me.

A complaint: extending ACA/marketplace enhanced premium tax credits would be expensive.
It would cost $35 billion/year to extend marketplace credits.
In contrast the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored health insurance cost $299 billion/year in 2022

Simple math...
People need HEALTH INSURANCE because costs of MEDICAL CARE are too high for nearly everyone to bear.
How many can pay $100,000 for a hospital visit, even if rare?
1/3 of health spending goes for hospitals, 26% for physicians.
So people seek INSURANCE, private or public.

Oct 2025 Update: MO Medicaid enrollment
Total enrollment stable at about 1.3 million
But stability doesn't capture underlying shifts:
custodial adults (-20%), disabled (-13%), children (-7%),
expansion group (+9%), pregnant women (+31%), aged (+5%)

the same administration that pardoned thousands who violently attacked the Capitol on Jan6th killing 5 and injuring dozens... brought a guy to trial for throwing a Subway sandwich 🥪 at officers.

I continue to say these are the simplest explanation for what happened in 2024:
Only once in 188 years has a sitting Vice President been elected, running as Veep. [GHW Bush]..Last time before that Martin VanBuren.
And DJT beat a black woman in 2024, a woman in 2016, and lost to a man in 2020.

Raising taxes on consumer goods (tariffs) and eliminating the ACA/Obamacare enhanced premium tax credits are NOT the way to make things more affordable; they raise COSTS.
