From the now-offline 5th National Climate Assessment, 21 Northeast. The chapter team debated for months on how to best show these precipitation trends on both temporal and spatial scales. The one we settled on works well and makes the trend pretty dark clear.

We collect a representative sample of hailstones, measure and weigh them, then crush them to determine compressive strength. A data collection race against time and melting. @ibhs.org @nsficechip.bsky.social

Fun fact about that compound in Naples: It has its own exclusive FEMA X-zoned area, meaning no flood insurance requirement for a mortgage!
