Find me at the junction between the creative industries and food & drink. I make marks but I also make hot sauce and a mess
The first of the end of 2018 posts is now live on Substack. Give it a read if you want.

The worst sauce I ever made
Another step to the end of 2018, I got experimental in the kitchen, landed our first stockist, raided Lord Aberdeen's greenhouse, failed at chilli oil and made the worst sauce in history

An outing to watch the ice hockey tonight. Aberdeen Lynx vs Edinburgh Capitals. Finished 1-8 to the caps. Bit of a sore one but you just can’t help admire the whole match day experience at the Lynx. That everyone turns up and does their best for the fans is brilliant. Recommend going.

That’s two posts written which take the Singularity Sauce Co story to the end of 2018. The first is published tomorrow.

Follow along if you like. No pressure though, I write this story for me.

Hitting 14 days sober today. I decided to do dry January this year and went a little early. 2025 was easily the worst year I can remember and I wanted a bit of a reset into 2026. I wish I wasn’t enjoying dry January as much as I am. There you go, that’s my update.

I would REALLY enjoy an @afc.co.uk win tonight. Scottish Cup win and that Lazetic goal aside, it’s been a little while since Dons fans had something to cheer about. Win or lose, if you show the same effort the fans do, we’ll love you for it

What’s the worst hot sauce you’ve tasted?

My next Substack post includes two recipes which defined Singularity Sauce Co. The legendary Purple Naga Viper Brain & Blueberries and the surprisingly popular Habaneros & Carrots. Paid subscribers get the lot. Free subscribers get the story. In to hot sauce? This is your bag

Looking to ferment your own hot sauce?

As part of the Singularity Sauce Co story, I’m about to release the documented fermentation process we developed and used to our paid subscribers. Probably the best £8 you can spend, saving you months of trial and error.

Ok we’re rattling through this now. The next article will be free to all. I explain how panicked I got by an Environmental Health Officer coming to inspect our kitchen. Everything was made in the home kitchen back then and I didn’t have a clue if that would fly.

Been inundated with messages on all platforms today. Not many had realised that Singularity Sauce Co had failed back in June. Today has been good. I’m so grateful for the lovely words and the support. Thank you.

Back in June, my business, Singularity Sauce Co Ltd failed. A hobby of many years which became my day job from 2019–2025. And a huge part of my life. It’s been absolutely crushing on me mentally.

I’m ready to tell the story now.

Brilliant night at the hockey on Saturday. Aberdeen Lynx crushed Kilmarnock Thunder 10-1 and that man there wasn’t taking any shit either. Any other hockey lovers?

Seriously tho. The size of and frequency of mahoosive spiders entering our house this year is not great fun. I’m going to need a bigger capture tub

Super Bowl ready. Wings sorted, tacos prepp’d, furious levels of hot sauce available. So all that’s left is to just enjoy the whole spectacle while stuffing our faces.

Chiefs or Eagles?

My time on Threads is coming to an end. This reads like “we’re 100% running ads, try and break it to everyone gently so they don’t all leave”. “Where they [ads] are as interesting as organic content.”. By the very nature of ads, that will never be true. This is delusional at best and a lie at worst

I’m not sorry to see you go though. I’ve been on Twitter since close to the beginning. I saw it change from a positive place to a questionable place. And let’s be honest, it was a cesspit for a while before its current owner took over. But the rapid decline after that takeover was staggering.
