Another follow up: Been using a Logi MX Master and I think I like it. Having an app to configure things is annoying. The KVM switch is a huge part of the value proposition.
Just rage-destroyed my apple mouse. In the market for a new mouse that isn’t an Apple mouse.

6mo, taking this back. Been using gemeni lately for an Instructor based inference workflow and it isn’t bad.
Google is increasing the cost of my g suite subscription due to the “added value of gemeni”. Feel like that’s a bit of a stretch.

New Deftones is pretty great.

Been pretty far down the observability rabbit hole recently with OpenTelemetry and Grafana. Pretty fun creating tracing visuals and identifying/ fixing problem points in your application.

Ordered a new espresso grinder from espresso coffee shop dot com on Monday afternoon. It shipped from Italy and is supposed to arrive today. Beyond impressed.

First week back at work from paternity leave. Have kind of a new role. Figuring things out.

Ok…what’s the plan?

I don’t drink espresso to wake up; I wake up to drink espresso.

completely selfish thought but hoping that the cost of coffee doesn’t become unaffordable through tariffs in the near future.

I’m hoping that the paddle system will help me work with a larger variety of roasts. Considered going the La Marzocco route but I wanted the adjustability of the Lelit. Also upgraded my grinder as well (Eureka Mignon Silenzio 55).

Alas, I think it was time for a new espresso machine. Being more obsessive with your routine will only improve your results so much and my former machine had a lot of miles on it. Leveled up to a Lelit Bianca v3. This is a big step up.

I pretty much make espresso with one kind of roast because I know it well and can produce a cup with a fair amount of delicious texture and crema. Been taking more care into my routine and being more gentle with the puck and more consistent with cleaning. This has been well worth it.

Had the best shot of espresso I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking recently while in a small sandwich shop in Haarlem and it kind of rekindled my interest in espresso. Been drinking a shot or two at a time lately putting focus into the quality of the pull.

Unfortunately for the time being, I’m not sure if there’s much more than one can do but soul search, recharge, and prepare for what’s next.
