Having worked at its neighbour (Maritime Museum) many yonks ago, it does infuriate (me) that these projects take a ludicrous and often unjustifiable length of time . They could literally build (heaven forbid) 25 Wetherspoons in the time it takes to refurbish galleries - # deliberate methinks !

Marbles . Something about marbles. The gutter, cracked or cobbled roads. The colours inside against a black & white world. ‘Steelies’ and ‘bollies’ . The string bag . Small objects that conjure so many thoughts. You always bring life to inanimate objects in a very comforting way 🙏👏

Lovely . Even more so considering the significance of the date to you . ( just happens to be my birthday too!!) As much as I love this month, as the leaves fall, the light fades and we wonder will we share another summer with those we hold dear. But there’s joy in solitude. My muse. Myself .

Loved it. Not sure Jeff realises there’s a legion of (his)’fans’ out there who want to just listen to these tales of wet streets, burning embers and old people doing their daily toil. A portrait of a time that acts as a comfort blanket. Keep going sir.
