I first went to Wendy’s (Oak Park, IL) as a teenage exchange student (from England) and it was like walking into the promised land. Oh, for a Time Machine!!!

Hi Marcus, thanks for your feedback. If there was/is a ‘definitive’ (and easily accessible) record of the number of RN ships during the BOB I’d include it in my novel. But for my purposes, I can keep things ‘big picture.’ I’m now really curious tho and may come back and research at a later date!

In fact people living longer as a result of improved health care is once reason there are shortages of housing despite so many being built. Life expectancy at 60 increased massively since the 80s until today (mid-70s to 85yo).

Health in particular has seen huge progress. For example, many cancer diagnoses in the 70s, 80s and 90s that would have been death sentences are now survivable thanks to medical advances and our wonderful NHS

Great tip, thank you!
It would be fascinating to see if this date has been compiled this way.
Thank you for getting back to me. Really appreciate it - and I really enjoy reading your posts / website etc. It’s great stuff and I love the detail you illuminate

Yes, totally agree. I saw that date and my heart sunk at the thought of going through it. For my purposes, I don’t need to be exact. But I’m surprised no-one else has compiled this info previously. (Or, maybe I have just failed in my own research to find anything!)

Hi there, I asked you in the hope you would in fact be ‘that guy!’
For precision, I agree that choosing an exact date would be the best approach as the Battle of Britain as defined then (or now by people like James Holland) encompasses a long time period
