What were books & periodicals "for women"/"ladies" in the 18c Iberian world? Who labelled them (authors, translators, editors, reviewers, educators) and why? How did they address their target readership and construct through commercial & moral strategies?

Many days later, I have emptied all 60 boxes of books brought from home and my previously naked bookshelves now look like this. Cultural/gender/intellectual/science/políticas/economic/social history/historiography, history tout court, and a lot of early modern books.😅

Yesterday, a total blackout left Spain without electricity, internet access, trains, cell phones, card payments etc. for 6 to 14 hours depending on regions.
Luckily, I was not on a train and had good readings at hand both for work and for pleasure.

On 25 Feb., Yvonne Knibiehler (1922-2025) died aged 103.
A pioneer of women's history, she started researching 50 years ago topics that still resonate today: motherhood (& fatherhood), bodies, sexuality.
Let's honour her & women's history month by rereading her work.
