It’s because people lack any ability to conceive of a world without meat - even the people who study why it’s bad.

Technically correct, but proper way to say that is that AAAS and Cell Press publishing policies are incompatible with the open research sharing policies of HHMI.

I agree he can't bring on subs in the first half and that his subs were right after that. But I still think he starts a too stylistically inflexible side - I would prefer starting with a side that can adjust better in the course of play, which is IMO Arteta's big weakness.

@gunnerblog.bsky.social #arsecastextra curious what you think of the theory that Arteta's problem isn't that he's too cautious, it's that he overcommits in lineup selection to a specific theory of how the game will go and as a result we aren't in a good position to adjust when things go wrong

This game was a perfect example. That was the right lineup to control the game early, frustrate City, maybe hit them with a set piece or Madueke, and then hit them with a more attack oriented lineup when they have to open up to chase the game. But when the opposite happened, we wasted the 1st half.

Arteta's critics are right that he overthinks things, but wrong about HOW he overthinks things. He's not cowardly. Rather he imagines the game going one way and sets the perfect lineup to accomplish that, but he overcommits, and when things don't go to plan, we're inflexible and can't adjust.
