Here’s what I’m talking about. I hate the term and it should never be used …UNLESS it’s like this which turns into commentary.

We had a rise in that ratio in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. It should have gone down, but didn’t because we gave all our $ to the rich.

Well would you look at that - an honest assessment in a headline from the NYT!

People are wanting to ban books because of complex subjects (but age appropriate explanations) … but also for no obvious reason.

Except the covers show people of color, especially kids.

Hmm….

Am in the middle of reading Prophet Song by Paul Lynch (Booker Prize winner 2023) and … whoa boy. Set in Ireland, inspired by the civil war in Syria…and feels so very, very close. A fantastic read - but buckle up, and not just because of that stream-of-consciousness Irish thing. #booksky

The unions are stepping up to defend their members who are journalists (TV) after a reporter was poisoned by a chemical substance canister meant for wide open spaces was shot into her van. There was no protest at the time - no people on the street, really. Just hee and ICE.

From an article from last Oct - before the current takeover of all branches of the government, extreme vilification of immigrants (particularly Spanish speaking ones), suppression of speech on late night TV, firing of government workers (including lawyers) …. www.nytimes.com/2024/10/23/m...

I’m glad that there is open dialogue here. But I’m also aware that the immigrant communities, my neighbors, are TERRIFIED. And in a it’s-1933-Germany kind of way.

Also, where’s the TN quoted from March? This sure sounds like a complete executive branch takeover to me.

This weird and potentially dangerous meeting and move has me nervous too.

And the article sites stats showing that political violence in the US predominantly comes from the right.

That’s AI orange. And does not appear to be a joke. Look at the instagram account for the agency.

Um, I think the agency actually did release it. See the screenshot from the verified instagram account.

I laughed out loud at the absurdity when this popped up in my feed, given the likelihood that the car accident came about from some dirty nasty business.

Nothing means anything anymore. Nothing. We are living in a cross of Fear and Loathing in LV and Borat, directed by Tarantino.

Here’s the (completely over the top) “critique” from Adams.

I got one too!

I did read the articles, including the NPR one that explains that while the official government line is that there are other satellites, there needs to be lots to catch quick-developing storms. I’m inclined to side towards the meteorologists and their fear that data won’t be as accurate now.

Ah you’re right, it was still being built when Kennedy was shot. But I think the cultural center was more than a working title, but instead the original legal name until Congress passed a new law honoring Kennedy.

Quick internet search led to the banned book list from the TN county. Not only is it real, but The Complete Book of DOGS is on it too.
