I’m sure in part. I also wonder about the use of insecticides and lawn chemicals. Our front yard is basically a field of lily of the valley, which the fireflies love. We don’t use chemicals, but many of our neighbors do. All I know is that I delight when I see them and miss them when they are gone.

Our Ohio and Illinois summer evenings used to be filled with them. Now sightings are scarce.
