👋 I'm Magdalena.
🔥 I started pottery as a hobby a couple years back and now I'm trying to figure out how to run my own studio and a business.

One of the last items I made before closing my studio. It's the biggest thing I made, it covered the whole 12in bat and I had to fire it directly on the bottom bricks in my kiln. I was pretty lucky that it fit in, as I didn't measure the kiln beforehand and I forgot the thermocouple sticks out 🤦‍♀️

These are the screen grabs of probably the last newsletter email I've sent for a long while. I'm moving across the ocean and I have no idea if and when I'll be able to re-establish a pottery studio.

I'm moving - please take ceramics off of my shelves! As I'm moving across the pond, I'll be closing my store indefinitely. I have no idea when I'll be able to re-establish a pottery studio.

1/ Hand-building and glaze-making 2-in-1. These two were waiting for glazing for months. I was really afraid of ruining the forms with some random glazes, and so we waited.

I'll have a couple unique doodle mugs in the next store update. They turn out really cute but recently I'm more in the mood for glaze experimentation. I think I'm kind of winding down mug making for the year and getting "back to basics" - practice & experiment.

A cute transparent green and a less cute transparent green: V.C. Transparent Green 3 and Steve's Gloss Green - both page 108 from Britt's △6 book. I like tile #614 the most where the bubbles in the glaze are locked in and cast shadows.

I keep playing with the Robin's Egg glaze. Here is a comparison:
- by itself
- under a clear gloss
- on top of clear gloss

Robin's Egg - Britt's △6 book p/108

This is my bestest discovery in Britt's book so far! It motivates me to make some more bud vases, as it's definitely not food safe 🥲

Some experiments come out meh, but I think it's still worth it to make notes and publish for others to compare.

Phase separation study

I thought I needed titanium dioxide (or rutile) to get a variegated glaze look. Not really! TiO2 facilitates phase separation but it's not strictly necessary.

Details in the thread.

Long time no see 👋

I'm thinking about a store update in August but who knows. I'm taking things easy. I'd rather go too slow than burnout! 🤞

John's Jade I - Britt's △6 book p/108

Interesting surface with a mix of glossy and matte (slow cooled) which shifts the color toward turquoise.

I wouldn't use it on functional pieces due to: high R2O:RO ratio, high copper content, crazing.
