Congratulations to Chief Master Sergeant Harris and the entire Planet Skate team on the opening of their new roller skating rink. Located at 9441 Lem Turner Road, Planet Skate is the first to be built on the Northside in more than 30 years. (1/2)

Our annual Veterans Day Breakfast is a wonderful opportunity to honor the sacrifices of made by veterans. In Jacksonville, we take care of all our people, a promise that's being tested by delays and cuts to SNAP. Today we launched the Duval Care Coalition for our neighbors who need hunger relief. This day has been a long time in the making. After years of planning, we were so excited to break ground on the Sulzbacher Enterprise Village. Phase 1 will provide permanent housing and end homelessness for 100 people, with comprehensive health and career services to come in the future. (1/2)

A big part of the Florida-Georgia weekend is the annual Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony held this afternoon.

Just in time for Florida-Georgia, Keane's Tavern opened its doors yesterday. Located at 315 E. Bay St, it will bring more vibrancy to Downtown with live music, karaoke nights, and football watch parties - All of which will give our residents another reason to want to live, work, and play downtown.

What an amazing surprise visit from three young leaders this afternoon.  Shreya Sharma, Ashna Nutter, and Ruby Patel collected over 500 cans of food and are donating them to local food banks!  Through their dance company, they put on a Bollywood show and asked for food donations for admission. (1/2)

This amazing event directly supports H.O.R.S.E. Therapies, our local equine therapy program that provides adaptive riding and driving for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. That includes many of our veterans and first responders.

It was such a pleasure to be at our beautiful Jacksonville Equestrian Center to kick off the Horses & Heroes Rodeo.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers, especially my horse Iron Man for being so sweet and gentle. We appreciate your support and for helping us honor our heroes.

There are only 2 cities in the U.S. that have a dedicated Military Affairs & Veterans Department and we are proud to be one of them. I wanted to personally thank our MAVD team for the amazing work they do every day for our veteran community. I'm grateful for the incredible job they are doing!
