maybe expecting her to get that is asking too much. maybe asking a cis person to get the trans experience is too much, but when I’ve tried to ask I just always get shutdown from her

that being said, that’s the difference between my mother and I, she looks back and sees a delineation where I don’t. she sees a boy, I see me. now she sees me, but she can’t realize the “boy” she raised is me now. and that hurts

I see a child who is trans, but didn’t quite have the knowledge of what that is or the language to express it. I feel sad for that child, but I also know that that child and I share some good memories—and a lot of bad ones.
