... But full disclosure, I made a decent living as a translator for over thirty years and the last two years have been disastrous. The tech has been there for quite a time, what's changed is client expectations. Turns out that 85% right is all they wanted, after all.

Yes, machine translation works very effectively in very narrow circumstances (we're talking WestJet forecasts or boilerplate sales contracts, and even there you need a human revisor...

Get the impression it's a bit of a disaster. Context gets damaged, collections get split up and museums often can't afford to buy important finds
