It isn’t a loan; it’s a graduate tax really, and it’s really regressive.

If someone’s parents pay the loan off early, that person effectively ends up paying a lower rate of tax on everything they earn over £21,000 (or whatever figure is now). If low paid could end up paying higher rate for life.

Vintage tractor rallies may not be a big issue in the grand scheme of things, but their popularity shows that the fossil fuel issue isn’t top of people’s minds! Ditto the TT. 5 weeks of motorbike worship on Isle of Man (inc other festivals) during which there’s non-stop celebration of ICE engines.

Maybe if the mainstream media did, there wouldn’t be people joyously driving particularly inefficient vintage tractors past my house ATM. People presumably wouldn’t think the idea of celebrating ICE engine culture was so appealing and appropriate if the the MSM told the truth about fossil fuels.
