got blocked by the dude that said ableist language is apart of czech culture and shouldn’t be criticized
December 6, 2024 at 3:59 PM
wasn’t twisting your words, i was responding (and even quoting) to what you said
December 6, 2024 at 3:57 PM
it’s a public form, your name is attached to what you say — folks can go find it if they want. but for context, Snow was arguing that ableist language is a part of czech culture
December 6, 2024 at 3:56 PM
just one example. (i removed your handle this time)
December 6, 2024 at 3:54 PM
are people in your country diagnosed with ‘mental retardation’
December 6, 2024 at 3:50 PM
All i’ve seen is you and snow making excuses. have a nice day
December 6, 2024 at 3:44 PM
continuing with the ableism, maybe it is important to your culture. It’s only fair that she shouldn’t be able to critique other cultures if she’s telling me to mind my own business regarding something that effects me and those i care about
December 6, 2024 at 3:41 PM
Cool, then you shouldn’t critique any other culture for anything ever again if no one is allowed to critique czech culture
December 6, 2024 at 3:36 PM
i don’t believe this, by the way — my linguistic prof was from the Czech republic and she had a whole unit on pejorative language and slurs. she started tearing up while discussing ableist slurs bc her daughter has a disability
December 6, 2024 at 3:35 PM
okay, context as to why using ableist language is important to czech culture, i guess
December 6, 2024 at 3:31 PM
because you can’t justify using a pejorative as being important to your culture
December 6, 2024 at 3:27 PM
if i don’t ‘understand’ explain it to me as to why using a pejorative is important to your culture
December 6, 2024 at 3:23 PM
you said your culture and language use are demeaning to people with disabilities
December 6, 2024 at 3:21 PM
as someone with a disability, im not virtue signaling. I quote, ‘you clearly don't understand the cultural/language connotations here.’
December 6, 2024 at 3:19 PM
‘please let me be rude to people with disabilities, it’s my culture :((((‘
December 6, 2024 at 3:17 PM
you are using it in a pejorative way, which is correlating ‘stupid’ with real people, no matter what
December 6, 2024 at 3:10 PM
Just because it’s widely used doesn’t mean it isn’t offensive. no matter what, you’re correlating ‘something stupid’ and bad with real people that are already ostracized and looked down upon by society — you’re contributing to the suffering of real people every time you use the word
December 6, 2024 at 3:08 PM
Nah, what you say in anger is still reflexive of the vocabulary on hand. You never hear folks say ‘i bite my thumb at thee’ when they’re angry because it’s not a term that is readily at hand for someone
