Monday was such a pretty day, and the Mountain was out. If you live near Seattle that means that Mount Rainier AKA Mount Tahoma is visible.

A fence with an open gate. A Wisteria tree, on the left side of the fence, has branches that drape over the gate opening. Violet colored wisteria blooms hang down in bunches, hang all across the arch created by the tree branches.

This is what happens when you attempt to take a picture of boulders under the water of a very still lake.

For Christmas my kids ordered a 365 day calendar of old family photos, pictures that I’ve taken and forgotten, and special occasions.
From 8 years ago today. I found it and others I took then. I’d forgotten that the lake was half frozen, with ducks waddling on the ice. #PNW #Photography
A lake in the late afternoon. Trees on the far side of the lake are reflected on the mostly smooth water. Except for the far end of the lake, because it’s frozen. Ducks can be seen waddling on the ice, near the edge and swimming in the water, near the ice.

Crystal Mountain is a ski resort east of Mount Rainier. When you take a cable car up, you come to an area with an unobstructed view of Rainier. We visited the area on a clear, gorgeous day on Jan 1, exactly 9 years ago, and had a chance to watch the first sunset of the year

The Green River in Kanaka-Palmer park in WA State, earlier this afternoon. I knew I’d be able to find a couple of interesting rocks. #PNW #photography
One large rough looking rock, and several smaller ones, on the side of Green River. The smaller smooth ones are wet from the rain. More rocks, slippery from the rain. One dominates the picture another smaller one sits next to it. In the background more are visible very close to the Green River Row of large moss covered rocks. Almost like stepping stones, on the bank of the Green River.

After we moved to the PNW I started exploring the area, frequently in the mornings after dropping off my kids in school. According to the time stamp this 8:50am was one of those trips in early December. What got me is the length of the shadows.

After living in Florida for 20 years we moved to the Seattle area. We flew here, ahead of time to find a house. On our flight back, the pilot did a fly-by around Mt Rainier.
Mount Rainier as seen from the sky. Cloud surround the base, and much of the ground in the background. But the top half of the mountain is completely visible. The sky above changes from a light blue on the horizon to a very dark blue up above.
