I kept meaning to put mine on a screw link or something. Didn’t even know you could get an auto locker that small.

The Mercy of the Gods is great too, really looking forward to their next one.

LOL, it was a little silly to get one bin per unit in an 11 unit apartment.

It’s still up!

Wouldn’t even hesitate to vote for a skeksis against Newsom.

Even real gold leaf is only marginally more expensive than good spray paint and still tacky as shit.

Asimov was a creep, but his books are at least decent and influenced a lot of other SF. Heinlein was a fascist and his writing sucked. Barely better than L. Ron.

Le Guin definitely had better craft and more interesting ideas than any of those guys.

Putting aside disagreements about access to deadly tools on an individual level, prohibitions often don’t work. I think many liberals are delusional about banning guns in the same way many conservatives are delusional about banning drugs, porn, etc.

But anyway, I’m all legs, so need short stems on any stock bike I’m riding distance on. Carried many an unreasonable load. Occasionally pushed the capacity on a surly big dummy. I acknowledge, you can make handling objectively worse with a short stem on the wrong bike.

I feel like some time in the twenty-teens they figured out how to make an MTB that pedaled pretty okay and went down gnarly stuff well. They’re super boring if you just putt around on fire roads, so everybody started buying gravel bikes if not eMTBs. Now the gravel bikes are mutating back into MTBs
July 21, 2025 at 11:41 AM
I agree, modern MTB level slack feels boring unless you’re actually bombing steep or chunky stuff. I think touring bike/casual road bike level slack usually works fine with short stems though. Depends on the bars and frame size/angle inconsistencies. The whole super slack gravel bike thing is weird.

Jokes aside, I think Chodestem vs 130mm+ boat tiller really depends on the bike and bars. Need enough width, backsweep or slack enough head angle for chodestem. Boat tiller calms down twitchy road/cx/xc race bikes with narrow bars. I see a lot of people kludge stem length and find their bike wonky.

Heckin chonktacular for springtime!

Only one kind of bear left here. I guess the cinnamon color is rare for black bears overall, but it feels like the vast majority in the local area.

Really hope the California secession referendum passes. Not because we could actually secede, just because it would be bad for Newsom. Also everyone like him with national ambitions.

Climate change is definitely making things worse, but these are fire adapted ecosystems. Malibu and the San Gabriels have burned cyclically since the last ice age. Large swaths of Malibu and Palisades burned down in the 1930s 1950s and 1970s

I think they’re living in backyards and city parks at this point. I’ve seen quite a few coyotes in Manhattan Beach and Mar Vista, at least 5 miles from anything resembling chaparral. There’s at least half a dozen in a city park sized parcel at the Silverlake reservoir.

Yeah, love the 9211. Folds up really nicely too.

Yeah, good tools with some of the worst batteries. Don’t even have cell balancing like every other power tool battery.
December 1, 2024 at 9:39 PM
At least it would charge after a jumpstart. Makitas have a chip that bricks the battery forever. Let it get cold or sit too long on empty, and it’ll never charge again on their chargers.

He looks less chonky than Patch here. Is he just all around bigger?

In the videos, it’s all boom, no fire. Definitely explosives, not thermal runaway.

I think OP is just joking around about this dipshit eating fruit snacks… but It was a different Welch who co founded the Jon Birch Society, candy guy, not Jam guy with later candy brand. The jam guy who WAS a John Bircher was Walter Knott, with the berry farm turned theme park.

This is a black bear in Southern California. They’re pretty timid in most circumstances.
