The one I have is just called the Aurora app. Not sure it's the best, but it's suits the purposes of a casual observer.

Last year we all slept through the big light show in May. After my kid expressed regret over missing the auroras, we made a point to download an app and keep a closer eye on things. Around here (PNW) it's almost always too cloudy anyway, but we finally hit paydirt last fall.

It's a good question, but I'm not sure this happens frequently enough for us to have research on that. These are free-roaming elephants, with access to the entire Kruger NP next door, so it's probably tough to monitor them (I think the only animal tracking happening there is w/wild dogs right now).
