I understand your point. My bias is probably that I play one genre, if not one game … sort of ;)

Honest opinion #1: if a video game doesn’t catch you past its tutorials, it’s probably not worth playing.
Honest opinion #2: with a good video game, you shouldn’t realize you’re playing tutorials.

Here is a sad but likely one, based on historical observations: take the year behind, increase all statistics (deaths, famine, poverty, unemployment, warming, heat waves, hurricanes, deregulation, profit) and you’ll get the year ahead.
