No. This is African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and we said what we said. Plenty of Black people pronounce it "hip-ma-tize" (see: Young Jeezy's song "Hypnotize" Which pronounces it hip-ma-tize through the whole song). It's not new. I first heard it in middle school. (For context I'm 40 now).
