We find that by the end of 2022, Pakistan could have produced 370–660 kg plutonium and 3090–5540 kg HEU (depending on the scenario); and that the once-through NFC is increasingly unlikely.

In the NFC w/o uranium recycling, Pakistan would have to stop HEU production around 2015 bc. of uranium shortage (dash-dotted blue curve).
In the models w/ uranium recycling, HEU can be produced alongside plutonium (solid orange and dashed green curves).

Pakistan is reported to have a natural uranium shortage, but has also expanded its nucl. programme (👉3 new reactors). To investigate this contradiction, we developed 3 different scenarios + modeled them with the simulation softwares Cyclus and Serpent2.
