Idk if you can or want to try it but the internet does say JB weld holds up well on gas tanks. Use sand paper and buff the metal surrounding the hole till shiny. Apply acording to instructions, let sit for 24 hours to fully cure before reintroducing gas.

How big is the hole?

My big question is the tank patchable with JB weld, or will you have to get a traditional weld patch or full tank replacement?
