I've had a Lightning for 2.5 years and 40,000 miles (charging w rooftop solar). It's been a great tool for us. But... Our other vehicle is a PHEV van, and that's the vehicle that seems like a much easier gateway towards EV adoption for most.

Read the article. Enjoyed the article. But for some reason I need the context of where exactly this doof bit you?

Thanks Canadians! That sounds familiar to this American... Hopefully your country has learned very quickly from what's happened here in the last 2 months. I know the whole world will be dealing with our mess for years (decades?) to come. A "do no harm" approach to government sounds so lovely now.

Ok, educate me a bit (if you're willing). How do you and other progressive thinkers in Canada feel about this guy? I've just started learning about him. Other Canadians can chime in too, but Ian's opinion is #1 for me 😁

They are great for taking care of food waste and turning it into eggs & manure for gardening. We've had birds over the last 11 yrs, so we're ready for this moment. But telling people to go out and start from scratch (pun intended) bc prices are high rn is silly. Do it for the sustainability

It takes quite a while to break even, given all the expenses with getting started. So people doing this in response to the current high prices will be even deeper in the hole and disappointed. Soooo, not very good advice!

Be somewhere else doing positive things that will grab attention. Be at food shelves helping people who can't afford groceries. Meet w laid off fed employees. Play basketball at the boys and girls club. Etc. Pull the media attention in all these other directions and highlight the difference.

There it is 😂

Same! That feels like it could have easily been avoided!

No. I don't want to meet them

A plug in hybrid might be a great intermediate option. The electric more will likely cover about 80% of your local and around town driving, while the combustion engine is still there when needed. Great way to reduce emissions in an area that's not perfect for EVs (yet)

It's a real thing (northern WI EV driver here), but maybe not as scary as it's made out to be. When it's 0 or -5 our range reduces from around 350 to 250 mi. Hasn't stopped us from driving it a ton and saving a lot of money. We rarely have to charge at public chargers
