Kinda makes the point about the need for a true publicly owned digital “public square,” a gap twitter used to fill but has since been enshittified. I think @tressiemcphd.bsky.social said something to that effect when Musk bought it & ppl started leaving.

Talented & gifted programs are essentially a tool set up in public schools to keep white/affluent parents anxious about their child’s specialness & human capital from fleeing to private school. All kids would benefit from smaller classrooms & more attention.

Do you really believe that teachers can objectively identify “giftedness” in 4 year olds? Lol maybe tracking toddlers is a bad idea and every kid should get ample opportunity?
