#CelticFC ( I think the term would be Celtic Da these days). Big music fan, play a bit of guitar, and dabble in a few other instruments and a bit of music production. Happy to chat about film, TV, sports in general. 🍀
The drop off from this time last season to now is so depressing.

With that late winner today, I think Rangers have a real chance of staying up.

Recruitment way beyond unacceptable. One hand tied behind the back, to say the least. Devil's advocate; 3.5 million a year elite manager Brendan Rodgers should still get a tune out of the squad. Can cut him some slack when we play better sides in Europa. Domestically, I still see no excuses.

I also think Brendan needs to be open to the concept of bringing on someone - McCowan or Bernardo - for CalMac. Particularly in the closing stages. I trust Callum implicitly, but if you're preparing to play Celtic, you bank on him staying on the park till the final whistle.

Idah does not fit what we are trying to do, or he isn't in the right head space. I think a loan back to English Championship might help him appreciate what he needs to do to succeed with Celtic. Based on his excellent loan performance, I lean towards complacency over inability.

All us little idiot supporter people have been saying for as long as it's been necessary; replace Kyogo; replace injured Jota; replace Kuhn.

Fail to do that, we will struggle. Unquestionably.

And this is before we address lack of left back to help KT get necessary minutes.

Rangers are crap despite spending as much as they can.

Celtic are crap cause we don't spend anywhere near what we should.

Probably bite me in the arse now, but I think those Gassama goals are part of a purple patch, he isn't a particularly great player, and he will have a broadly quiet season without doing very much of note when it really matters.

The Celtic squad desperately needs quality added. Central defence remains a glaring problem, and we need more attacking threat across the front 3.

Urgent action needed for first XI for me: another LB, upgrade on Scales/Trustey, CDM that's more a destroyer to allow CalMac to push forward in midfield, a starting striker to allow us to use Maeda left wing till Jota is fit.

From Celtic point of view, if Kuhn wants to go, let's get that business done. Purple patch in first half of last season shows the player he can be, but I think it's clear the reason he didn't break through at Munich or Ajax is his inconsistency.

Fully expect Igamane to be sold by Rangers for an undisclosed fee. Let the fans speculate and shout about it being a Scottish record, when in reality it's c£10 million with a decent sell on. He wants to go, they need cash flow. His numbers don't justify >15 million despite obvious potential.

I think Russell Martin is capable of improving them. They can definitely take more points off the rest of the league. I fancy us to enjoy better results against them, and can see their results in Europe dropping off.

Fair play Aberdeen. I like Thelin, seems like a good guy. Congratulations.

Some longer term warning signs for Celtic. 2025 league form not too hot. Got away with League Cup Final. Found out today.

Don't think we have really kicked a ball consistently since Leipzeg.

Must do better.

So, so, so happy for Ange.

I will be absolutely delighted if Rangers give the gig to Gerrard. Rodgers will go up a gear.

What's all this American investment in Rangers chat? Anyone outside their usual mouthpieces reporting this story? Anything from the American side? Another share issue needed to keep the cash flowing and suddenly there's a "good news" story. Convenient.

I always loved Paddy Barclay on Sunday Supplement back in the day. Didn't necessarily always agree with him, but respected his opinion and clear love of the game. A special writer and orator. May he rest in peace. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him, and perfect strangers like me.

On balance, a cheeky 2-2 would have been nice before they hammer us next week... but that was respectable. We showed we can be compact and defend well. We had moments where we moved the ball really well, especially on the counter. Some composure and maturity against a much better side.
February 12, 2025 at 10:25 PM
We will probably get pummelled in to the ground next week, but this has been respectable. Can pick holes in both goals conceded, but the levels of concentration and discipline to keep them out at other points in the match deserve credit.

Atalanta drawing 1 each away at Brugge. Are we the only side Atalanta failed to score against in the competition? Wild!
February 12, 2025 at 7:02 PM
Happy with the lineup. Idah deserves a start, and Jota coming on to change the game (if it's still a contest) works for me.

I actually think Rangers have done pretty well getting top 8 with the draw they had, injuries they needed to deal with etc. Europa League is very obviously a gulf in class below Champions League. They're not a great footballing side. They thrive on chaos and prefer to play underdog.

My biggest take away from this group stage has been the development of our mentality. Rodgers first tenure, that Dortmund away result leads to further heavy defeats. We could have had a much harder draw, but much better teams than us underperformed by comparison.

Villa front 3 have the potential to absolutely destroy us tonight. But I feared a pasting off Atalanta and that turned out OK. Still not overly confident of anything other than a big Villa win. Please prove me wrong Celtic
