Barbenheimer definitely impacted things but Nolan has a history of box office home runs. I’m sure the movie would’ve done very well regardless.

The fact that the timeline isn’t linear is why it’s bearable. He cuts between scenes like crazy. If the movie was shown in order it would be boring. Nolan has employed this trick in ALL of his movies. It’s effective and profitable and shows studios that auteurs can do blockbuster (see Dune 2).

Oppenheimer made a bazillion dollars and is edited like a YouTube short. It’s basically a feature length cocomelon video about things that go boom. Still a great film but using it to say you don’t get bored watching grown up movies isn’t the point I’d be making.
