Go Sox

And fuck Elon
Is it weird that his exit velos aren’t higher if his swing speed is that fast?

Add two more runs in favor of Texas from terrible calls on the base paths

Is it unreasonable to think that someone who is being paid over $30 mil a year should put his ego aside and just play another position.

The Sox were right not to prepare him to play first when Casas was healthy as that would have caused even more clubhouse problems. Just feels selfish by Devers.

Certainly a bad start but hard to say it was one of the worst in Sox history

There were at least 4 ground balls that should have been converted to outs (only one scored as an error). All 4 of those runners ultimately scored.

Houck has not been sharp but he’s a GB pitcher let down by his infield

If Yarbrough makes it to the MLB roster the Sox have to get Eck in the booth for every Sox Jays game

The wild part about this is that adding a middle of the order bat will not cost a lot at this point. Bregman is not happening. Grichuk and Laureano are the two natural fits to me and are will likely get 1 year deals for ~$10M.

Inexcusable not to sign one given the undeniable need.

This is why either giving Tyler O’neill the QO or signing him to a short-term deal made so much sense. They are clearly unwilling to shell out long-term deals which is understandable given the big 3 prospects coming, but they need a top of the order RH bat if they truly want to be competitive.

I’m sorry but there is absolutely no way that the Astros are going to move a 34 year old (35 in May) Altuve from second base to the outfield where he has played exactly 0 professional innings…

Agreed - it would be interesting to look at this data in tandem with elbow/shoulder injury occurrence and see what the correlation looks like and what the lag time is between high average velo relative to max velo and ultimate injury.

This is very interesting thanks for sharing.

Do you have the full list of data accessible? Curious who is at the opposite side.

Is this assuming Wong is the opening day catcher because that would be a disaster.

Breslow can’t ignore this if he truly wants to improve the pitching this season.

The Sox traded away two top 100 prospects (one who is big league ready) + two strong prospects for a guy who has throw 219 innings over a 5 year period and has 2 years of team control. This is a terrible trade an ownership group that will do anything to avoid paying top dollar for free agents

Totally agree, and it gives them more roster flexibility if they’re able to move Yoshida which is essential. Having O’Neill as a more full time DH would have given them roster flexibility and balanced the lineup.

Where do they pivot now though? I hate the idea of signing Teoscar to a 3 year deal.

It feels like a bad look that the Sox didn’t throw a QO to O’Neill. A 1 yr $21mil contract for a power RH bat would have been perfect and on top of that if he turned it down they would have gotten a comp pick.

That being said 3 yrs $49 mil seems steep - especially with a player option mixed in.

Absolute garbage move by Breslow. I will boo that bum every single time he touches the mound in Boston. Nobody wants him here and I don’t care if he’s good or not

Gonna be fun to see what they get for these guys at the deadline when they are inevitably 10+ games under .500 and 4th place in the division
