"This zone expands and Brits are shut out, through no fault of our own." 😂😂🤣🤣
January 4, 2026 at 1:15 PM
Yep, plenty of Brits think like that thanks to the island mentality & xenophobia. They lapped up the dissing of the EU by the tabloids & journalists like BoJo for years, until the well was poisoned & Vote Leave could take full advantage of anti-EU sentiment.
January 4, 2026 at 8:41 AM
Nonsense. If you did participate and voted to leave, you did, and if you didn't participate you allowed it to happen by omitting to vote to stop it.

Anyway, it's water under the bridge now. FoM has gone and you've got a new mission in life. Suerte, chico 😀

Nostalgia over WW2 underpins the nationalist streak that Farage, Tice, Habib, Robinson continually tap into to lament Britain's glorious past, diss the present state of the country & turn people against foreigners. It's part of the British psyche.

Yes...except on February 23, 1981 in Spain. I know. I was there.

@misterdac.bsky.social, FYI on the subject of uncountable nouns in English 😉. Enjoy your Sunday.

Really? Once checks of govt-issued ID are mandatory employers simply won't & will carry on as today? Don't see that.

Lots of services (& duties) requiring proof of identity: healthcare, voting, discounts for seniors/juniors, travel, pensions, tax returns...govt gets accurate pop/demogrph data.
September 26, 2025 at 12:21 PM
Yes it will (panto time). If UK had ID cards,
- it'd deter clandestine migrants more so than today by making it harder to disappear or access services they're not entitled to
- it'd deter rogue employers from breaking the law & be easier to enforce empm't laws
- lawful ID checks shldn't be a pbm
September 26, 2025 at 10:47 AM
ID cards are a no-brainer: they indeed make life much easier for law-abiding citizens in many ways. They work for govts wanting accurate information on who/how many people are in their country. Sure it won't stop migrant pbms but having them wd make the UK a less attractive destination than now.
September 26, 2025 at 10:11 AM
ID cards are a great thing for citizens & govts. The UK is the big laggard in Europe by not having them. Case in point: your statement re UK's ESTIMATED "irregular economy" is just that - an estimate bcs the govt doesn't know who/how many people are in the country.

Brits are just as bad, if not worse than Americans 🙄.
September 21, 2025 at 10:20 AM
Obviously, but that's nothing new. It's been like that since WW2 and Suez.

But its location means it can't ignore its European neighbours, nor do many Brits want to cut selves off fm Europe.

The UK must perform a delicate balancing act btw US & Europe which Starmer has so far done well.
September 19, 2025 at 8:06 AM
It's not so cut & dried, I'm afraid. Quite nuanced, actually.
Brits know it's in their interest to get along with the Yanks but they're wary of their brashness, and don't like bullies

¿Objetivamente? Buenooo....😀 A mi me encanta un buen acento mexicano, con su claridad de pronunciación y esos ´s´ sibilantes, todo envuelto en un vocabulario elegante. El apoteosis del castellano hablado, a mi parecer.

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" Apparently Trump can declare a national emergency on his whim w/o any oversight. There appear to be none of the American constitutional checks or balances to his power. Danger Will Robinson!

I tried following you but gave up after your own dismissal of root causes of Brexit & the abiding obstacle to rejoining i.e. the contempt most Brits have for the EU/Brussels/the Commission, etc...
Until UK public opinion turns from sneering to respect for the EU your goals will be hard to reach.

My pleasure. J’étais toujours reconnaissant quand on me corrigeait mes fautes de français.

News = an uncountable noun, therefore it's singular. "Good news is coming at a frantic pace.....etc". Hope that helps 😉
