1 year on from last summer’s racist riots, our new report highlights experiences of communities across GB who told us that health impacts have been longer-lasting + worsened by increasingly hostile environments, misinformation & harmful politic rhetoric.

We welcome the announcement by the Chancellor that the eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment will be reinstated to around three quarters of older people, particularly the 2.5 million vulnerable pensioners who narrowly missed out on qualifying.

Depending on which region of the UK they live, as many as 1 in 5 young people (Wales, London, West Midlands) are unemployed. In the North West, 40% of unemployed people are age 16-24

Our new programme aims to break the cycle of mental health problems and youth unemployment
Almost 1m young people are not in work or education. We've heard directly that this is both a cause and consequence of poor mental health.

Today we launch a pioneering programme to break the cycle of poor mental health & unemployment for young people.

Through our work at People’s Health Trust, we’ve seen many ways to narrow the life expectancy gap through work that addresses the underlying causes of health inequalities, such as better paid secure work, homes that are safe and affordable, and access to quality food that people can afford.

Good to see both NHS England and DHSC confirm that prevention will be a focus of forthcoming 10-year health plan

This will be crucial if falling life expectancy is to be reversed, as stated in our @peopleshealthtrust.bsky.social evidence submission

Older people ask how to “survive winter” following “catastrophic” winter fuel payment changes

That’s what we heard again and again from dozens of People’s Health Trust funded partners and older people they work with last month, as set out in our report: www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk/news/press-r...
