"When there is occasion for great bliss (such as love
making), or when seeing a (dear) relative (or friend) after a
long time, meditate on the bliss (as it) arises (just then); the
mind of one that is that (bliss) dissolves into it."

Lovely isn't it? I'll end this thread and we'll talk more tomorow

Yoga doesn't have to be just sitting cross-legged with your eyes closed. Many types of meditation you can lay on the ground, or walk around, or sitting comfortably staring at the ocean. Really depends on the purpose of the meditation itself. Here's one from the Vijnana Bhairava 7th century text:

This is why a GOOD teacher is so important. Meditation can also be anxiety increasing, depending on the type of meditation. Proper guidance is required, like a proper asana (postural yoga, what we think of yoga in the west) teacher is important if we're doing yoga. We don't want to injure ourselves.

I like to think of it as this, meditation is intentional awareness. It's a practice of being aware.

This changes drastically with the intent or the purpose for the meditation, this will change depending on the circumstance. One day this outcome is important, the next day something else.

For the meantime, you can think of yoga as the end, and the means of the end in a state of clarity.

Meditation is vastly different from school to school and tradition to tradition. There are 1000s of "experts" on podcasts, social media, bluesky ;) all trying to derive their own forms of meditation

We might now need to discuss the definition of yoga to make sense of the last statement. A physical exercise routine? A way to find clarity?

But, that's too much for small form threads like this. Check out James Mallinson book on the history of Yoga for more information.

Also keep in mind I don't use social media, which makes me not understand social media that well or it's best practices, but like the idea of a social media network that I'm not forced to use such as facebook or twitter in order to find social relevance. It feels better here, so I will use it.

One last thing, I'm going to try to write everything without AI, because, I don't want to lose the ability to both write (I already lost the ability to remember directions with maps), and, I want to try to use my experience in studying and teaching meditation not someone else's.

I've spent the last 25 years studying many different types of meditation and yogic practices, including Zen (Chan) sitting Zazen for many years in East Vancouver, Kashmir Shaivism through my teacher Mark Dyczkowski, and the Bengali tradition of Hinduism, who I learned from my parents Prith & Chitra
