In 4th grade my daughter said that she didn’t like being asked about school and wanted to make a deal: if she got all A’s on her grade card, I wasn’t to bug her about classes and grades. My son wanted the same deal. I was clueless about what was happening in class and involved in everything else.

Go someplace where they will do both ears at once. It does sting a little and some kids back out of doing the second ear.

I think you can still use your mother running as a D. If your mother were still in politics, would she approve of what the R party is doing? You probably have a long list of what your mom would disagree with. Use it.

We bought a CO2 meter for our daughter’s first apt in college. It went off at 2:30 in the morning when the furnace malfunctioned. All five girls got out. Best $ I ever spent.

Worst: Don’t use a sling.

Best:
1) Say yes as often as you can. The world will supply plenty of nos.
2) Smile every time you see your child. (Obviously not meant for serious situations.)

My parents, now deceased, used to call me for legal advice (retired lawyer, practicing at the time). Mom would then call my brother, a music librarian, to ask if I was right. (Don’t rag on my brother. He told her to ask me.) She would then do what she wanted to in the first place. 🤷‍♀️

My son, when 7, kept misbehaving, so we kept taking toys with wheels away. All were gone for a week, and the kid started singing, “I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride my bike.” We could only silently laugh.

While in the midst of moving and downsizing, we just gave away over 2,000 books. Maybe it will encourage someone to read a banned book or two or twenty.

Buy a cookbook with 365 days of recipes. Plan for a few months and rotate. Cook big for a few days’ worth; freeze extras for later. Work eat-out days. Eggs are easy. Keep staples on hand for a few meals of easy recipes. Tons of recipes online. Splurge on something with the money you save.
