I’m in for life. Hard to say if I’ll drift further away from new releases like I do, and gravitate harder to quick bite retro games. As I get older I find I have less time or energy for it; like I doze a little while working through the Dragon Quest remake at times and I’m very WTF about that.

One thing about Snoop (and Death Row Records etc) that always made me laugh a little, were all the suburban kids that were so into it/identified with it. I remember other kids trying to embody early gangsta rap and thinking “man, you’re 12. You ride a bicycle to school and play soccer.”

What about Dragon Quest XII while we’re at it?

I always wanted a home version of this game back in the day; I remember finding it weird that I many computer formats had some kinda version but the NES, which had a decent enough version of the TMNT game, never saw a Simpsons port.

This is my cozy recollection of the era. Refreshing local pages written in Notepad, no tables, very low tech. It felt good.

Final Fantasy XIV has been doing this with expansions, but it’s part of the stack of goodies you get with the deluxe edition purchase; it doesn’t feel egregious.
