Let’s do this :)

I also just dove into Unreal Engine but I’ve had my eye on Godot for a long time and my younger brother has been trying to write an AI inside of godot

That’s super cool, narrative-driven will be the way to go for picking up the basics. I’m really into character-driven exploration strategy games, like space sims if they thought more about how different each ship could really be lol. We should keep chatting! I bet we could exchange a lot

That’s awesome. I’m diving into both now after a decade of being stuck on the design side with no code friends or time to learn 😅 what kind of projects are you interested in?

Yo Noelle, are you on the coding side or art/design side? That’ll affect what you’re looking for

Afaik no books are officially banned by the us govt but you should definitely look this up. A few states have ban lists mostly pertaining to lgbtqia+ material but again, go to the source (look up the laws) if you want to know for sure because everything I’m saying is lightly educated guesswork

I’m not super far into understanding Unreal but dm me if you have starting questions! I know a bit…

The basic logic always does. As long as you understand what variables are, why loops exist, what AND or WHILE or OR mean in a code context, you’ll be fine. This stuff is designed to be learned

Game dev is awesome if you like to obsess. As long as you organize the project by critical/ideal/noncritical features and break it down into things you can do in one or two sittings, and keep looking for answers / alternatives when u hit a wall. U can get rolling and stay rolling

Plus Unreal and Godot are free. Broke game dev is getting easier with every passing second - definitely give your dreams a shot, even if it’s just a few hours a week

Learning this our of my own pure will (and having a class as an excuse) has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, also visual scripting is incredibly easy and fun if you have ADHD
