War is terrible, so both sides are at fault.

Killing innocents, is never justified. The least that can be done is an apology.

I'm sorry the conflict has come to this. May forgiveness and compassion come easily to those who come out on the other side, so peace and safety can find hope.

It's unfortunate. They don't have the capacity to depose hamas and will be used as human shields to defend hamas.

The ensuing atrocities will be used to legitimize an even more hard line stance perpetuating and exacerbating the bloodshed.

russia is the #2 military in the world and their ability to project power is limited to barbarism.

The Americanair force and navy is unparalleled.

American alliances provide bases coupled with their fleet have the ability to project overwhelming force anywhere on the planet.

It's impressive.

No endgame means neither Hamas nor Israel achieve their goals.

Hamas will cease to be.
Israel will lose the ability to normalize relations with Arab nations and may trigger a broader conflict.

They'll have a say in their governance, I have no idea what that'll look like. I don't think it'll be the UN, middle eastern politics is crazy complicated.

Its possible Syria and Lebanon break their defenses, liberate Palestine and Israel loses. Though I doubt it, 50-100k hezbollah isn't enough.
October 13, 2023 at 12:32 PM
It's likely to exacerbate emotions, alienate allies (for both hamas and Israel), and widen the conflict.

Yayyyy...(sarcasm)

Israel is kicking any hope of peace generations down the line. They cannot have a neighbor who will never seek peace.

Hamas may be martyring itself and the Palestinian people to doom Israel.

It doesn't look like anyone has a successful endgame or that there's any chance of peace on the horizon.
October 13, 2023 at 4:44 AM
The problem with peace, is Hamas, given a few years of limited conflict stacked weapons, we can all agree that seems reasonable.

When Hamas held power over Israeli children and civilians they mercilessly executed them. That's unacceptable, Israel will eliminate their power base.
October 13, 2023 at 4:38 AM
It's likely Israel will reestablish a deterrent.

Then they will seek to dismantle Hamas. It will be brutal, as it doesn't appear Israel will accept the normal safe havens terrorists enjoy.

The occupation of Gaza to purge Hamas will be an atrocity. Israeli allies may not have the stomach for it.

Quite possibly not from the same century, especially given that it turned so recently.

Yeah, albeit machine learning and simulating the human decision process wasn't AI when I started...but they call it that now. I call it eliminating redundant human effort, especially in managing large datasets.

Seeking information isn't the same as consuming media. If I read news in Armenia and Azerbaijan to flesh out a story, it isn't consuming media. Seeking information to contextualize facts is the opposite of blindly trusting individual media sources and isn't limited to opinion pieces.

Let me guess, I'm reaffirming my confirmation bias by seeking an echo chamber?

I also run an IT company that designs AI systems. I'm experimenting with a new technology. I won't be here long, then back to obscurity: )

We're probably not from the same country.

Typically, I read. Currently I'm digesting some courses on the economic history of the world. I read national budgets, history, geopolitical focused material. Media I take with a grain of salt and always consume material from competing positions as close to the subject matter as possible.
October 13, 2023 at 4:19 AM
You would be hard pressed to sell the lifestyle of an authoritarian regime without the threat of violence when the option of self determination and access to western lifestyle is an option.
October 13, 2023 at 4:16 AM
I don't consume media.
October 13, 2023 at 4:14 AM
They're filled with people so they exhibit similar flaws, albeit typically with an aspiration to do better. Other government styles aren't unsuccessful, but not as appealing.

Can the model be improved upon, hopefully...but it's no surprise people aspire to have life, liberty and property.
October 13, 2023 at 4:13 AM
It often looks like that. They're stereotypically more competitive in appealing to the individual.

They're wealthier, have institutions that uphold a legal standard, protect property/contract rights, have better education, Healthcare, etc. Are they perfect, no.
October 13, 2023 at 4:10 AM
Why would you presume that to be true?
October 13, 2023 at 3:41 AM
My point is more illustrative to be concise. I am saying the vote was fixed and there's ample supporting evidence, beyond simply the incredibly unlikely 97% results.
October 13, 2023 at 3:41 AM
I think I'll just let the message of how unquestioning trust in government is a disaster marinate for a while.
