Beyond its economic impact, this agreement includes key sustainability commitments, such as:
- Recognising the Paris Agreement as a cornerstone of the EU-Mercosur relationship.

For the EU, however, the path is more complex. The negotiations at the European Council and European Parliament will undoubtedly require careful attention, given the EU's intricate decision-making processes (and the staunch opposition of some countries). (3/5)

On the Mercosur side (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay), approval appears relatively straightforward, as national legislatures are likely to endorse the deal - though Argentina’s case will be worth watching closely. (2/5)
