This is what the waiting room of an ER in 🇳🇱 looks like.

If you'd set a TV-series like The Pitt in a European, properly funded ER with limited waiting time, no mass shootings, no fentanyl epidemic it wouldn't make great TV. 🥱

Today was Nijmegen's turn for the relay strike against budgets cuts in higher education in the Netherlands. We protested against these irresponsible cuts on research and teaching. Stop the cuts! #WoInActie #DoeHetNiet!

We saw The Brutalist yesterday. An amazing movie. Masterfully done. However, I did feel a bit cheated that the story was pure fiction, as it is presented as being biographical. Anyone else have this?

When we explore the distributions across party preferences, we see that acceptance of repositioning is highest among traditional mainstream/centrist parties, and lowest among far right supporters. 6/n

We further find that the negative effect of extremism is driven by respondents with far right extreme views, not left-wing extremists. 5/n

We test 4 hypotheses that explain variation in policy change acceptance: political interest (+), technocratic attitudes (+), ideological extremity (-), and populist attitudes (-). We find that, in most countries, political interest, extremism and populist attitudes have the hypothesised effects. 4/n

In contrast to many experimental studies (incl. my own), we find that there is considerable support for the principle of repositioning among citizens. 3/n

Some things don't change. Apparently my viral posts on @bsky.app are not about research either...

Using a survey experiment, we show that prejudice strongly shapes how citizens think about such community schools. While Moroccan weekend schools are seen as a threat, Italian weekend schools are seen as a valuable addition to society. 2/3

I had the chance to play around with paid version of @elicit.com, an AI-tool that allows you to systematically scan and process papers. And I must say, I am quite impressed!

Post a perfect album from the '90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice in Chains.

Last week we protested in Nijmegen at Radboud University against the 1.3 billion cuts in higher education, despite the cancellation of the demonstration in Utrecht! Thanks @woinactie.bsky.social for getting organized so quickly! 1/2

For a host of different dependent variables, I find that repositioning has a strong negative effect, and that this is particulalry true for perceived decisiveness. Yet, female and male candidates are equally affected by this. 5/
