I also often refer to our family as "poor" and when people look at me quizzically I explain: we are a family that lives paycheck to paycheck, unexpected expenses are big setbacks, and we have been lucky to have jobs, sometimes needing multiple to get a little ahead and no major catastrophes. Poor.

My current cat fetches but drops his toy out of reach and cries for me to throw it again. If I ignore him, he brings more toys, but never figures out to bring them closer.

I cook 3 turkeys so I have to start early. Defrost began Thursday for Tuesday roast, remaining 2 will be roasted Wednesday. 20 pound birds, can adjust defrost for smaller birds.

There are some salsas that are terrific condiments. Mayo is also appropriate at times.

We should be limiting our added sugar to 24-30 grams per day. A tablespoon of ketchup contains about 4 grams. I'll be damned if I am going to waste 1/7 of my sugar on ketchup.
There are moments for ketchup. But adding ketchup to make otherwise unappealing food better? Just don't eat that food.

My husband always seems to be baking when the sewer cleaner comes to our house. He goes away with treats, enough to share with the dispatcher and his family if he chooses 😊
