I mean when you alienate people away with your shitty public image, whatever you end up doing gets completely ignored. And if advertising is completely absent, even more salt in the wound lmao

#ChainsawManRezeArc is some of the most fun I've had in the theater. It's at times way too overstimulating but this feels like the start of the full meal that the excellent first season was appetizing us for. It's funny, violent, gory, and soulful. Insane production and I can't wait for more.

9/10

One thing that caught my eye was the directing. Particularly with the editing, there are choices of what and when to show that foreshadowed, symbolized, or recontextualized current events. The cinematography is very expressive as well. It feels more artful than other popular anime properties.

While the ridiculous animation is carries the 2 half of the film, it is all lifted up by Kensuke Ushio's score. From the erratic techno metal of the fights to softer piano medleys that accentuate Denji and Reze's relationship, the score gives the film a unique texture and contrast.

This film succeeds where Infinity Castle fumbled and that is in pacing. At one hour 40, you are told a story from beginning, middle, and end as opposed to having half a season crunched into a nearly 3 hour film. This story just breezes through and by the time the action hits, it feels earned.

Fans of the first season will notice that the production value is rougher around the edges and feels less polished at first. But rest assured, the promise of the most insane, over-the-top, cocaine-fueled action I've ever seen on the big screen will be delivered. The animation here is generational.
