I read your stuff about the NHL, games and most anything else.
That's not the question. This isn't a case of the better shot type. A slap shot is an ideal tool to use when the puck is moving laterally. The goalie has less time to set because the change of direction of the puck is much faster. The question was how do slap shots result in goals in a physics sense

Puck spends less time on the stick. In the case of a one timer, the puck spends less time in contact with the lumber and the goaltender has less time to react.

If we are talking about a slap shot on a breakaway, I question said slap shooter's judgment, but this is about physics, not philosophy

Are those physic-sy enough?

2 points.
1. Assume a slap shot on average has about 10% more velocity than a wrist shot. Compare the ability for a baseball player to hit a 90 mph fastball vs 99 mph fastball.
2. The release time of a wrist shot is generally slower than a slap shot so a slap shot is an ideal shot from a one timer

What's worse is that I think Janmark was his most common center.

Maybe he slept with Knoblauch's wife?

Love your post. I'm mentally comparing the replies you would get on the other app compared to the first ones here.

Starting lineup is set first by CBJ and Olivier doesn't often do opening faceoffs. Olivier is also quoted that there was no pregame conversation.

CBJ might have put him out there for protection, but there's every possibility that there is no opening fight if CBJ doesn't line him up as a message.

Janmark has been awful
-Worst 5v5 HDCF%, xGF%, SCF/60 and 2nd worst GF%
-Br & J have allowed more PK goals then Hen and RNH despite lower TOI. Somewhat flawed stat given goaltending influence.
Problem is Janmark and Brown are considered 3rd line because Perry is too old to play more minutes

Edmonton's wingers have top to bottom been heavily under-performing.

Were you always this high on McLeod? If I had to choose between the two at the time they re-signed Henrique, I'm not really mad at either direction.
In hindsight, McLeod has been out performing but I also think a lot of Henrique's problem is being stuck between Brown and Janmark so far this season.

I'm pretty sure he had the worst GF% and xGF% on the Oilers at 5v5 when I last checked.

If they had any guts, their full name would be the Wasatch Mountains Mammoths. None of this Utah or Salt Lake stuff

Keep in mind if it's Chicago's 3rd, it's as close as you can get to a 2nd without it being a second.

Not sure I want him on the ice when Pasta is on.

Who are you trading then? Without massive retention, there's no way.

He's waiver eligible so if they sent him down, Boston can just claim him right back. My guess is he replaces Dermott and they attempt to send Dermott down. The fact that he shoots right, means he's likely to be more useful to replace Stecher/Emberson on the occasional night.

He holds the stick with the opposite hands of Nurse. I don't know anything else.

We found the guy that only watches one team. Edm has had some of the best defensive numbers in the league all year. Skinner has one of the worst xGS in the league because he rarely stopped high danger chances. Notice how the pk effectiveness perfectly coincides with Skinner not being bad.

Perry is the only one that I agree with. Ryan was signed last year when Philp/Savoie were not in the organization and Henrique is a fantastic value at 3C. Moving RNH to 3C means you also lose the option of playing Drai on McDavids wing at times because you don't have enough centers w/o Henrique.

No. Holloway had 2G/3P in game 4 of the finals. That's it for those 2 series. Janmark had 3G (2 SHG)/5P in those 2 series. And was a large part of that pk.

Dylan deserved better from Edm, but Janmark deserved what he got.
