White House document posted to justify...

This apparently is the memorandum issued by Trump. There is no justification at all. He's not invoking the Insurrection Act.

Wrong. He's just arranging things so the wealthy don't have to pay it. He won't have to care what the cost is.

Are American television networks going to carry that stupid birthday parade? Why? What is the point?
May 11, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Well... yeah. Why not raise the price of cars to discourage the use of cars?

(Yes, we know why — we aren't preparing and structuring life without cars. Our land use and transportation policies are firmly centered around the common use of cars by nearly everyone, around the ownership of cars)

Most of the awful people in the Trump regime are card-carrying Christians. Does this mean they do their awfulness despite their Christianity or because of it?

It means nothing unless...

1. He demonstrates he has the power to ram through a constitutional amendment

2. He's willing to ignore court rulings

We're not going to sit still and allow that kind of illegal presidential behavior repeatedly. He thinks we are — fuck that.

Fake news. There was no trade deal.

Help me understand. Didn't this level of sustained performance used to mean a quick climb up the ladder to something like 150% of your earnings within a few years?

It's fascism - the lying, the gaslighting, the willingness to directly act in violation of the Constitution. The cold inhumanity.
May 9, 2025 at 3:37 PM
Oh, I get it. The smoke is apparently from the burning of the ballots. So now everyone's supposed to have faith in the results of the voting, without evidence of ballots. God's choice, or somesuch.

Makes sense, once you place it in context of the entire enterprise's silliness.

One of the primary enablers of this destruction and cruelty — entirely predictable.

And what's up with the chosen symbolism for this conversation — the "fireside chat"? Big middle finger to FDR's New Deal is my guess.

I'm ½ day into the Facebook / Meta 8-day boycott. More disconnected? Maybe. Spending less time on the phone? Yes. Much better battery life? Definitely.

The president of the United States doesn't run the country and never has. Three branches of the federal government plus state governments run the country. Ultimately, as the US Constitution clearly says, they have to answer to the people.
