a series of nfc tags at the DM's position, companion app moved over them subtly triggers lights sounds, mp3s. can write new automatons for each tag based on specific games.

i had a similar issue. there's not much available. Ring do an outdoor sensor, but it's quite expensive and i didn't fancy it. finally decided to stick an aqara one (which is tiny) into a semi sealed tictac box. yet to fully implement though.

yeah, we don't really have a lot of hurricanes in the uk. but we do have a lot of reservoirs. or large lakes. or close to the shore sites (we are an island). and there's lots of inland seas in Europe. so might be worth a go?
